KRISI AGRI TECH primarily operate through an integrated contract farming model, where we partner with local small and marginal farmers to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality Gherkins, Jalapeno pepper, Baby corn, sweet corn, green chilli, Bell peppers, silver skin onion and other vegetables that meet stringent international standards.
Contract Farming: Gherkin cultivation at Krisi Agri Tech is carried out almost exclusively on a contract farming basis. We enter into agreements with farmers, guaranteeing a market and pre-agreed prices for the produce, which minimizes market risk for the farmers.
Input Supply & Technical Guidance:We provide farmers with essential, high-quality inputs, such as approved seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, that adhere to international standards. We also offer continuous technical support, guidance, and training on best practices in agronomy, irrigation, and pest control through our extension staff.
Cultivation and Crop Management:
Climate & Soil:Gherkins are predominantly grown in the Southern Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka,Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, due to favourable soil and climatic conditions (temperatures between 15°C and 35°C) that allow for two to three crops annually
Irrigation:Drip irrigation and fertigation systems are often introduced by our company to ensure efficient water management and nutrient delivery, especially to counter water shortages
Pest & Disease Management: Our company encourage integrated pest management (IPM) systems, often using organic or biological controls to reduce reliance on chemical pesticides and meet the strict residue limits of importing countries.
Harvesting:Gherkins must be harvested manually every day or two to ensure they are picked at the precise, small size (typically 2 to 12 cm) required for different grades, as even slight delays can lead to oversized fruit and value loss.
